History of Medical, Dentistry, and Pharmaceutical Branches
Tehran Medical Sciences Branch of Islamic Azad University was founded in 1985 with four medical sciences disciplines: medicine, nursing and midwifery, and medical laboratory sciences. Currently the numbers of student are in excess of 23000 with 20000 graduates forming our alumni working as successful scientists, researchers and medical experts locally and indeed around the World.
In 2017, the leading committee of Islamic Azad University decided on the amalgamation of medical, dentistry, and pharmaceutical branches, forming one of the biggest branches of medical and clinical sciences of Islamic Azad University. Following the merge, Dentistry, Pharmaceutical, and Medical Sciences are working and collaborating under the same umbrella, Islamic Azad University of Medical Sciences.

Amir Al-Momenin (PBUH) Teaching Hospital
Amir Al-Momenin Hospital with 220 beds is one of the oldest hospitals of Islamic Azad University. This hospital was established in 1980 and is currently one of the most active hospitals in the South of Tehran with a land area of 5854 square meters and 7470 square meters of building, offering variety of specialties and sub-specialties such as infectious diseases, surgery, CCU, ICU, gynecology, and dialysis. It has over 40 specialists and subspecialists working to train students and provide health care to people.
Farhikhtegan Teaching Hospital
Farhikhtegan Hospital with 320 beds is the largest hospital of Islamic Azad University located in the north west of Tehran with 45 thousand square meters of land and encompasses 43 thousand square meters of building in 9 floors. The hospital is in accordance with the latest health ministry standards and has 134 square meters of physical space per each bed, is referred the state of the art building. Farhikhtegan hospital has been founded and designed with the aim of expanding medical specialty education, applying applied researches, and performing complementary health care in Islamic Azad University. The aim is to make this centre as one of the most reputable international referral centers for rare and genetic medical conditions.
Ghods Educational, Research, and Health Services Clinic
Ghods specialty clinic with 4129 square meters land, and 1077 square meter building, offering majority of day case medical services such as pediatrics, gynecology, general medicine, surgery, cardiovascular, otorhinolaryngology, ophthalmology, family planning, vaccination, mother and baby clinics, urology, and traditional medicine. The Ghods clinic is known for its outstanding health care services in this part of the capital serving wide ranges of medical services. This clinic is also considered as a reputable site for training medical, occupational health, nursing, and nutritional sciences students. This clinic is responsible for training approximately two thousand students per year.
